On 28 November, in the city of Buenos Aires, the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Daniel Raimondi, met with the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Lim Sung-nam, on the occasion of the 7th Round of High-level Political Consultations between the Argentine Republic and the Republic of Korea.
The Deputy Foreign Ministers underscored the excellent state of bilateral relations and agreed to continue expanding political, economic, trade and investment exchanges, including the entry of Argentine agricultural and livestock products into the Korean market, as well as to continue making progress on agreements currently under negotiation.
Furthermore, both delegations addressed such important items on the bilateral agenda as the strengthening of technical cooperation and the importance of increasing triangular cooperation in Latin America. They also highlighted their interest in further strengthening the bilateral relationship in the field of scientific cooperation in the Antarctic. Issues of common interest in their respective regional contexts were also addressed, as well as the most important items on the global agenda.
At the meeting, the delegations highlighted Argentina's active involvement in the international community, as reflected by its hosting of the WTO Ministerial Conference in December this year and the upcoming G-20 Presidency in 2018, as well as the closer ties with the OECD. In addition, the delegations discussed the relationship between MERCOSUR and the Republic of Korea, as well as the next steps towards opening trade negotiations.
As regards the G-20, there was a candid exchange of views in order to achieve concrete progress and practical results during Argentina's Presidency in 2018.
