Argentina launches "Electronic Visa" for international conference participants

Monday, 09 October 2017
Information for the Press N°:
448/17

For the first time, the Argentine Republic has launched an "electronic visa", which has been applied for by several participants in the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17), being held in Buenos Aires as of today.

The "electronic visa" is the result of the joint work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the National Directorate for Migration (DNM).

The system allows travellers to submit their applications in fully digital form, without the need to go personally to Argentine Consulates abroad, but keeps security checks intact. This visa mechanism only applies to participants in international events from countries where the Argentine Republic has no Diplomatic or Consular Offices.

The upcoming events for which "electronic visas" will be issued are the 4th Global Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labour, to be held on 14-16 November, and the 11th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), to be held on 10-13 December.

Attendees of the aforementioned international events who wish to obtain information on the new "electronic visa" system can go to:
