The Government of the Argentine Republic thanks the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for its generous work in identifying the Argentine soldiers buried in Darwin Cemetery, Malvinas Islands.
The forensic work done in Darwin Cemetery from June to August, as agreed by the Argentine and British Governments in December 2016, was carried out with due respect and care by a specialized Red Cross team which included two Argentine experts.
All DNA samples collected in the Malvinas Islands were then sent to the laboratory run by the Argentine Team of Forensic Anthropology (EAAF) in Córdoba, where they were compared to the samples from the relatives of the soldiers, who had previously given their consent to participate in the identification Initiative.
Laboratories from the United Kingdom and Spain in charge of conducting a blind, crossover trial of the results have confirmed that the methodology used by the EAAF laboratory complied with all applicable international protocols in force.

The Argentine Government believes that this work is an important step towards settling the historical debt to the relatives of the fallen soldiers buried in Darwin Cemetery as "Argentine Soldier Known Only unto God".
