Argentina - UNESCO agreement on Buenos Aires Regional Office

Today, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met in Paris with the Director of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ms. Suzanne Grant Lewis.

At the meeting, the Agreement between the Argentine Republic and UNESCO on the Regional Office of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) in Buenos Aires was signed. The Agreement updates the document signed in 1998, highlighting the commitment of the Argentine Government in the field of education.

The IIEP-UNESCO Regional Office in Buenos Aires is the Regional Office for Latin America which focuses on training, research and technical cooperation in order to promote educational policy planning and management. In addition, the Buenos Aires Office contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, particularly SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
