Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra, together with Minister of Production Francisco Cabrera and Trade Secretary Miguel Braun, received today at the Palacio San Martín the U.S. Trade Representative, Ambassador Michael Froman, during the first meeting of the Council on Trade and Investment established under the Framework Agreement entered into with the United States.
"We've held an excellent meeting. We were able to discuss all the items on our agenda and made sure that all matters related to trade facilitation are among our priorities. We have especially discussed the change of administration in the US, since it is the next US Government that will be continuing this work. We have placed special emphasis on this," explained Malcorra.
As regards US-Argentine bilateral relations, she added: "We have established strong links at both the public and private levels. As you are aware, the private sector is ultimately the one that has to make a move. This is why the Government is making all possible efforts to meet the relevant requirements for this to happen.
In turn, Cabrera stated: "This is a new stage of dialogue and exchange in which we are consolidating an actual bilateral relation, with a view to attracting investments that will generate more and better jobs for the Argentine people." He also emphasized that "we are working together to help SMEs grow and take part in global value chains."
