The Argentine Foreign Ministry wishes to thank United States authorities, both the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires and the officials from the U.S. Departments of State and of Homeland Security, for allowing Argentine national Emiliano Zottola to reunite in the coming days with his daughter Estefanía, who suffers from a serious illness and is receiving medical treatment in the United States.
Mr. Zottola requested the Argentine Foreign Ministry's assistance to enter the United States and join his daughter, after he admitted to residing in that country as an irregular immigrant (on a tourist visa). His five-year-old daughter, born in the United States, is currently being cared for by her mother.
In light of this situation, which prevented Mr. Zottola from re-entering the United States, steps were taken a few weeks ago in coordination with the U.S. Embassy and the Department of State in Washington through the Argentine Embassy in order for Mr. Zottola to be granted a humanitarian parole to re-enter the country without facing arrest.
Taking into consideration the minor's serious health condition, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has granted this parole to Mr. Zottola and has authorized him to re-enter the country alongside his two other children, in order to assist and accompany his daughter Estefanía during the course of her medical treatment.
