The Argentine Republic expresses its concern over the recent escalation of violence in the city of Jerusalem and in the West Bank, in the context of events occurred last week that have cost the lives of several Palestine and Israeli nationals.
The Argentine Government urges that violence and fanaticism not be allowed to undermine the right of societies to live in freedom and in peace, and calls for the full exercise of civil rights, including freedom of religion. The Holy City of Jerusalem should be a place of gathering and peace. Therefore, free access to holy sites should be guaranteed to those who profess the three major monotheistic religions -Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
Argentina reaffirms the need to resume a peace process in order to finally reach a fair and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
