Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met today with his counterpart from the Netherlands, Stef Blok, on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting taking place today and tomorrow.

As a follow-up to the State Visit by President Mauricio Macri in 2017, the Ministers addressed the progress made on cooperation in the fields of water and nuclear resources, human rights and social dialogue, which are included among the issues of interest to the "21st Century Partners" relationship between Argentina and the Netherlands. The Ministers further addressed opportunities for increased trade and investment, the state of the Mercosur-EU negotiation and the investigation conducted by the European Commission into the alleged subsidies on Argentina's biodiesel.

They also discussed Argentina's G20 Presidency and the participation of The Netherlands at the forum at Argentina's invitation, as well as Argentina's OECD membership bid. As regards the regional level, they shared views on the situation in Venezuela.

Rwanda

At the beginning of the day, the Argentine Foreign Minister met with Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, with whom he reviewed the bilateral agenda.

As Rwanda is this year's chair of the African Union, the meeting served as an opportunity for the Ministers to share their views on common strategies at the global level.

They further addressed issues of the bilateral relationship, such as the mutual interest in increased trade exchanges and cooperation possibilities for agricultural projects, humanitarian assistance through the White Helmets and exchanges between diplomatic academies.

The Ministers also signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement, which will give a new boost to the existing ties between the two countries.
