Delegations from Argentina and Colombia met in Buenos Aires to advance in negotiations on items on the agenda and to propose shared objectives for next year.
Both countries underscored the importance of the bilateral relationship and their interest in strengthening their bilateral trade ties. Colombia's delegation was led by the Director of Economic Integration of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Andrés De la Cadena, and Argentina's delegation was comprised of officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Production, and Agro-industry.
Argentina expressed an interest in recovering earlier bilateral trade volumes, especially in higher added-value products, for the purpose of moving towards a more modern, complex and comprehensive relationship. In addition, Argentina stated the importance it assigns to the Colombian market and emphasized its desire to achieve, within the short term, a substantial improvement in trade exchanges. Argentina also reiterated that it is willing to move forward on a programme to support Colombian agricultural development, which has great potential in Colombia's post-conflict scenario.
Colombia, on the other hand, underscored its ongoing efforts to develop its potential for exports to Argentina, and expressed its satisfaction at the increase in binational tourism.
Additionally, progress was made on the dialogue to reach a bilateral agreement in the automotive sector.
Both delegations reiterated their commitment to strengthen the ties between MERCOSUR and the Pacific Alliance.
