This morning, Foreign Minister Faurie received the Papal Nuncio to Argentina, Monsignor Emil Paul Tscherrig, who is also the Dean of the foreign Diplomatic Corps accredited in our country.

Monsignor Tscherrig, ambassador of the Holy See, congratulated Foreign Minister Faurie on his recent appointment and wished him success during his term.

They both agreed to work jointly -and with the various Government departments- to present to the foreign Diplomatic Corps the most outstanding projects related to the public policies introduced by President Macri's administration, in areas such as science, technology, tourism and infrastructure, among others.

Foreign Minister Faurie, alongside the Secretary for Worship of the Argentine Republic, Santiago De Estrada, thanked the Nuncio for his important role as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, and highlighted the Executive's recent submission of the Religious Freedom Act before the Argentine Congress.

Monsignor Emil Paul Tscherrig, born in Switzerland in 1947, is the twelfth diplomatic representative of the Vatican to our country. He had already visited Argentina in April 1987, when Pope Saint John Paul II paid his second visit.

Emil Paul Tscherrig entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on 1 April 1978 and has served as pontifical ambassador in many places around the world (Uganda, Bangladesh, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname, Denmark and Iceland, among others).
