Joint Communiqué: Dialogue in Venezuela

Wednesday, 07 December 2016
Information for the Press N°:
431/16

The Foreign Ministers of the undersigned countries reiterate their call for the maintenance of dialogue in Venezuela between the Government and the opposition.

They also highlight the importance of mutual respectful treatment and of strict compliance with the agreements reached within the framework of such dialogue, which are essential to build the required trust, ensure permanent participation by all the parties involved and make progress on the resolution of disputes for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.

Our countries will continue to support the efforts made by the former Presidents and the sensible contribution by the Vatican, which must be deeply appreciated by all the parties as a disinterested démarche to favour the dialogue process in the sister nation.

We hope that Venezuela will find the path of understanding that will provide it with stability for the future.
