The Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay encourage dialogue aimed at concrete results to put an end to the difficult situation that Venezuela is facing.
It behooves the Government and the opposition to urgently find solutions for the sake of the Venezuelan people. Therefore, we once again call on the parties to remain on the path of dialogue and use language carefully with a view to overcoming polarization, which is dividing Venezuelan society. This will make it possible to make decisions for the benefit of the whole country.
We appreciate the significant cooperation given by the Vatican and by former presidents and we express our willingness to collaborate as required.
We acknowledge the recent positive signs, such as the release of some prisoners −hoping for the accelerated implementation of this measure and for an increase in the number of beneficiaries−, as well as the suspension of demonstrations by the opposition in order to pave the way for dialogue. Staying on this track at this time is decisive for the country.
We ask the Venezuelan society to allow reasonable time for dialogue to produce the expected results within the framework of respect for the rule of law and the will of the Venezuelan people, expressed in keeping with the Constitution.
