In parallel to the 47th OAS General Assembly held in Cancún, Mexico, Foreign Minister Faurie met today with his counterparts from CARICOM (a community of 15 Caribbean nations).
At the meeting, they discussed Argentina's history of cooperation with the countries of the community. In this regard, Faurie mentioned that this year will be the 25th anniversary of our country's cooperation, and the 24th anniversary of its presence in the Caribbean.
The working areas addressed at this meeting, to be strengthened through technical cooperation, were Spanish language teaching, health, cultural industries and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, in addition to agroindustry-related issues.
It is worth noting that, according to the South-South Cooperation report issued by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), Argentina is the top provider of technical cooperation in the Caribbean.
To conclude the fruitful meeting, the parties agreed that, in the context of the UN's 2030 Agenda, Argentina and CARICOM countries will continue to work jointly to be partners for development.
