From 28 to 31 August, the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gustavo Zlauvinen, made an official visit to the Nordic countries, which included meetings with authorities from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, in order to continue strengthening political, trade and investment dialogue.

At the meetings, the key items on the bilateral, regional and multilateral agenda were addressed. As regards Norway, opportunities to boost Norwegian trade and investment in Argentina were discussed, particularly in the field of transport and infrastructure, energy sources and air connections.

In this context, the importance of Norwegian Air's ambitious plan for rendering air services was underscored, as well as the agreements reached between YPF and Statoil on the offshore exploration of the Argentine Sea basin. Finally, the meeting was a propitious occasion for a brief formal greeting between the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Borge Brende.

With respect to Sweden, the Working Holiday Agreement and the 2017-2020 Roadmap for Cooperation were signed. Undersecretary Zlauvinen also participated in the inauguration of the "Argentine Day" at the World Water Week in Stockholm.

In Denmark, Argentina’s main trade partner in the region, Ambassador Zlauvinen was received by the Secretary of State for Foreign Policy, Ambassador Jonas Liisberg, with whom he reviewed the most prominent issues of the bilateral relationship and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations.
