The Secretary for International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser, met today with the South Korean Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cho Hyun, who is in Argentina for the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
During the meeting, they underscored the two countries' potential for diversifying and increasing bilateral exchange in the fields of trade, investment, education, science and technology and technical cooperation, including triangular cooperation in South America. They especially agreed on the importance of working towards promoting exports and Korean investment in Argentina in key areas, such as infrastructure, mining and technology, among others.
Secretary Reyser expressed Argentina's interest in stepping up efforts so as to advance the negotiations for gaining access to the Korean market for Argentine agro-business products, as well as in fostering closer ties between the business communities of the two countries.
In this context, both countries welcomed the upcoming announcement on the beginning of the MERCOSUR-Republic of Korea trade negotiations, to be held in Seoul.
Finally, both Deputy Ministers addressed the issues on the multilateral agenda, such as the OECD, the WTO and the G20.
