Within the framework of the 12th Meeting of the Argentina-Russia Intergovernmental Commission for Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, the Secretary for International Economic Relations, Ambassador María Cristina Boldorini, received at the Palacio San Martin a large delegation of officials and businesspersons from the Russian Federation, led by the Head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Serguey Dankvert.

The scheduled activities began on 31 October with a business forum that gathered firms from both countries. The forum, organized by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship and the Russian Export Centre, provided opportunity for over 90 bilateral meetings between Russian companies from high technology sectors and their Argentine counterparts.

Subsequently, on 1 and 2 November, the meetings of the Working Groups of the Intergovernmental Commission were held, presided over by Undersecretary for International Economic Negotiations Nora Capello and Ambassador Daniel Polski, on behalf of the Foreign Ministry, and by Undersecretary for Project Scenarios and Assessment Mauricio Roitman, on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mining. On that occasion, the delegations agreed to concentrate their efforts on the search for and implementation of joint projects in the fields of agroindustry, industrial development, transportation, communications, mining and other matters of mutual interest.

With regard to bilateral trade, the heads of both delegations shared the view that bilateral relations offer great potential for development and agreed to promote activities to close business transactions, especially among small and medium-sized enterprises.

Finally, as regards health-related issues, a protocol on animal feed exports was signed to enable regularization of flour and soybean pellet shipments to the Russian Federation. Furthermore, progress was made on increasing the number of fisheries registered for exports and on reaching an agreement on the technical requirements for the shipment of bovine semen and embryos, as well as cattle for reproduction purposes. These achievements will contribute to increasing national exports and sales of Argentine genetics technology to Russia.
