The seminar "latindia, the future of cooperation in india and latin america. A view from the south: argentina and india," was held today at the palacio san martín, jointly organized by the argentine foreign ministry, the institute for the integration of latin america and the caribbean (intal), the inter-american development bank (idb), the embassy of the republic of india in argentina and the argentine council for international relations (cari).
The seminar was attended by deputy foreign daniel raimondi; the indian ambassador to argentina, sanjiv ranjan; the director for intal-idb, gustavo beliz, and the president of cari, adalberto rodríguez giavarini, as well as national authorities, businesspeople, academics and institutions from india and latin america.
The topics addressed at the seminar included strengthening ties between india and latin america, especially with argentina, as well as prospects for trade agreements with the region, with a special emphasis on the creation of synergy and complementarity among the productive sectors of the two regions.
In this context, participants assessed the opportunities and challenges of the mercosur-india relationship, including alternatives for consolidating the bond and underpinning its complementarity.
Finally, they analyzed the prospects for the bilateral relationship, with a focus on opportunities for strengthening and diversifying trade and investment, political consensus and technical cooperation in specific instances of argentina-india cooperation.
The seminar is included within the policy of prioritizing ties with india pursued by the argentine foreign ministry.
