Argentina welcomes the consultation held on 16 July in Venezuela, in which over 7 million Venezuelans participated, including Venezuelans residing abroad.
We hope that the outcome of this demonstration by a large share of the Venezuelan people makes the Venezuelan Government desist from calling a Constituent Assembly and recognize the need for a genuine and fruitful political dialogue with the opposition to guarantee the restoration of institutional and democratic order and full respect for human rights.
Argentina rejects the acts of violence that occurred yesterday, regretting the victims reported, and reiterates its willingness to help Venezuelans through the dialogue process.
