Third Universal Periodic Review of Argentina

Today, Argentina reaffirmed its commitment to human rights by participating in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). At the opening of the interactive dialogue of its third UPR at the Human Rights Council before the 84 States present, the Secretary for Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the Argentine Republic, Claudio Avruj, highlighted that he is attentively considering the recommendations and observations of the Universal Human Rights System.

Secretary Avruj put forward the Argentine Human Rights Plan and stated that the commitments it includes, in many cases, address the recommendations received by Argentina during the second UPR cycle, as well as the observations made by treaty bodies and by Special Procedures of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

The Argentine delegation was comprised of representatives from the Secretariat for Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the Argentine Republic, the National Communications Agency (ENACOM), the Argentine Ministry of Health, the Argentine Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Argentine Ministry of Education, the National Women's Institute, the National Agency for Disabled People, the Argentine Ministry of Security, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, and the National Directorate for Migration.
