Twenty-three Argentine technology companies participated in a mission to the cities of Bogota and Medellin (Colombia), organized by the Undersecretariat for Trade Promotion and Investment Development of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, which started on 29 August.
As part of the annual planning conducted by the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship in cooperation with this sector, the mission has been one of the most important events of the year for Argentine software and information technology companies, both for the number of participants and meetings, and for the growing dynamism of the Colombian market.
The mission started in Bogota with a Business Seminar and Meeting at the headquarters of the ICT cluster of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota, which included exhibitions by the Argentine Embassy, Invest in Bogota, the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication of Colombia, the City Hall of Bogota, Procolombia and Fedesoft (Colombian Software Chamber).
Activities were also held in the city of Medellin, at the premises of Ruta N Medellin. This corporation was created by the City Hall of Medellin for the promotion of innovation culture, the management of knowledge and networks, market access and access to business innovation and capital.
More than 250 business meetings were held at the two cities, during which the Argentine business delegation offered, among other proposals, app innovation and development for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), biometric and time access control systems for retail chains, Software Development Solutions for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and HHTs; Outsourcing Consulting, Systems Integration, SOA, Migration, Support, and System and Process Reengineering.
The Undersecretary for Trade Promotion and Investment Development, Marcelo Lucco, expressed the Government’s satisfaction for the results of the mission, noting that: "This is a model sector in the Argentine industry. It's technology- and knowledge-intensive, and it has been growing uninterruptedly, generating significant exports and quality jobs for our citizens."
In turn, the participating businesspersons underscored the business opportunities, culture and similarities between the Argentine and Colombian markets, as well as the potential for the establishment of bilateral relations in this sector, on the basis of association possibilities between companies of the two countries.
