The Governments of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Paraguay and Peru regret and are deeply concerned about the violent events that have taken place in Nicaragua over the past few days, which have left several people dead and many injured.
The Governments also convey their condolences and express their solidarity with the victims of such violent acts and their relatives.
They further call on all sides to promptly put and end to confrontation and to the acts of force. They especially call on security forces to exercise their powers with extreme care in order to avoid the excessive use of force and an escalation of the crisis, and thus create the conditions for the restitution of peace and the resumption of dialogue, which are paramount to overcoming this serious situation.
