White Helmets Commission signs agreement with Panama's Minister of Government on the Regional Logistics hub for Humanitarian Assistance (CLRAH)

The President of the White Helmets Commission, Ambassador Alejandro Daneri, participated in the 6th Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Americas held on 20-22 June in Cartagena, Colombia, which was attended by President Juan Manuel Santos and Mami Mizutori, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).

In this context, Ambassador Daneri and Panama's Minister of Government, Carlos Rubio, signed an Agreement on the Regional Logistics Hub for Humanitarian Assistance (CLRAH), the entity that provides an appropriate framework for increased emergency response capacity, as well as for cooperation and the efficient use of the resources available to humanitarian organizations working on this matter.

The aim of the Agreement is to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among all stakeholders in the area of international humanitarian assistance, preparation for international emergency assistance provision and disaster risk reduction. One of the issues of interest addressed was the importance of cooperating in information exchange and in developing and strengthening logistical capacities.

Ambassador Daneri highlighted the strategic vision of the Republic of Panama in developing this idea and stressed that the agreement will enable experience sharing and the development of cooperation actions, in addition to providing support for enhanced coordination among the institutions responsible for humanitarian assistance in the region, as well as for reaching common solutions, thus creating lasting and effective partnerships through joint work. The signing of this agreement is a formal embodiment of the excellent relationship that exists between the parties.
