Participation of the Secretariat of Malvinas in the first Board meeting of the National Program for Research and Productive Innovation in Argentine Maritime Spaces

The Board of Directors of the National Program for Research and Productive Innovation in Argentine Maritime Spaces (PROMAR) was launched, within the framework of the Pampa Azul Initiative, in a new joint interministerial effort to consolidate the Argentine presence in the South Atlantic.

The constitution of this body will allow a coordinated action of the state agencies in the work and design of policies that strengthen the sustainable development and strategic presence of our country in the maritime and insular areas of the South Atlantic, as well as the consolidation of knowledge and scientific development related to the sea. 

This first meeting was headed by the Undersecretary of Institutional Coordination of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT), Pablo Nuñez, with the participation of the head of the MINCyT Advisory Cabinet Unit and Executive Coordinator of the Pampa Azul Initiative, Carolina Vera. During the meeting presentations were made by the Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Filmus; the Secretary of Research, Industrial Policy and Production for Defense of the Ministry of Defense, Daniela Castro; and the Undersecretary of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Carlos Liberman. 

Pampa Azul is an interministerial initiative that seeks to promote research, development and innovation to help guarantee sovereignty, security, environmentally sustainable social and economic development with a focus on technological innovation, social inclusion with a gender perspective, protection of marine natural resources and the integration of marine and coastal environments, as well as to promote capacity building in related scientific disciplines and technological areas.
