Officials from the Secretariat of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic presented on the topics of the area during a training course organized by the Association of Journalists of the Argentine Republic (APERA), an institution that plays an important role towards disseminating Argentine sovereignty rights.
The lecturers provided the participating journalists with technical, historical and diplomatic knowledge related to the Malvinas Question, the Argentine Continental Shelf, as well as the work carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to safeguard national interest in the South Atlantic. The training meetings, which began in 2020 and reached 16 journalists from across the country, concluded on July 26 with a press conference by the Secretary of the Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, Daniel Filmus.
"The Malvinas Question is one of the most just causes in Argentine history", highlighted Filmus, condemning once again, on behalf of the Argentine government, the British military exercises in the Malvinas Islands while underlining that “defending sovereignty is as important as preventing appropriation of natural resources that belong to the Argentine people”. The Secretary congratulated Fernando Ramírez, head of APERA and those who are part of the association for the work they have been carrying out in disseminating the sovereign rights of Argentina on the Malvinas and to keep in mind the memory of those who fought bravely and those who fell there in defense of those ideals.
In the event the Director of Malvinas, Sandra Pitta, and the Director of COPLA, Frida Armas, also spoke on behalf of the Secretariat. In addition, a mutual commitment was established to advance with a new training course that addresses Antarctic issues.
