The Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister, Daniel Raimondi, today met with the Bolivian Ambassador to Argentina, Santos Javier Tito Véliz, along with representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Secretariat for Strategic Affairs. They discussed the concern expressed by several sectors of the Bolivian society regarding the "Northern Integration Programme", launched on 17 August in La Quiaca, Jujuy.
During the meeting, information was provided on the Argentine legal framework and the features of the Programme, which consists mainly of the provision of logistical support by the Armed Forces in the context of the fight against drug trafficking and cross-border organized crime.
Participants underscored the importance of continuing to step up efforts in the fight against these scourges that are significantly afflicting the region.
The Bolivian Foreign Minister had been invited to participate in the launching ceremony for the Programme, held last week, and, although he was not able to participate because of schedule constraints, he expressed his willingness to participate in forthcoming events within the framework of the activities carried out in coordination with regard to these issues, which are of shared interest to the two countries.
