Deputy Foreign Minister Daniel Raimondi headed today the presentation of the 2018 International High-Flying Film Festival at the Palacio San Martin, together with the Governor of the Province of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales.

During the event, Raimondi noted that "within the context of foreign policy, cultural promotion always provides excellent contents which effectively foster international relations and their goals."

"The variety of cultural expressions notably provided by films helps us to understand a society, to develop viewpoints about past, present and future events, to relate to historic characters and, especially, to become acquainted with other values, ideas, attitudes and rules, some of which are not our own and others which are familiar to us. In line with this approach, we continue to bring our countries closer, to put our cultures in contact and to afford visibility to different regional issues, as well as strengths," Raimondi stated.

He added that: "Jujuy is a clear example of this and the organization of the Festival stands as the epicentre of cinematography in the Andean region. Therefore, and as a token of the commitment of the Foreign Ministry to the promotion of Argentine films, we greatly value the initiative of the Government of the Province. This is a concrete way to enhance integration among neighbouring Andean countries, with films as an excuse to encourage further and more fruitful dialogue between our peoples."

The International High-Flying Film Festival, which will take place on 2 and 9 September 2018 in the city of San Salvador de Jujuy, is organized by the Government of the Province of Jujuy and is supported by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts.

The main goal is to disseminate audiovisual productions from Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia, promoting and encouraging the development of the film industry of these countries, laying strong bases for the consolidation of film promotion and screening policies of the Andean region.
