CASUR's work is strengthened

The Advisory Council on issues related to the South Atlantic (CASUR  in the spanish acronym) has been formed by ambassadors Federico Mirré, Eduardo Airaldi, Silvia Merega, María Fernanda Cañás and Osvaldo Mársico. They are career ambassadors with vast diplomatic experience on issues related to the Malvinas and the South Atlantic. Minister Gustavo Bobrik, with a long history on the Council, also participates.

CASUR was created within the scope of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999 with the aim of deepening the study and research of issues related to the territories and maritime spaces under sovereignty dispute in the South Atlantic.

Its functions include providing assistance in the development of strategies for the resolution of the sovereignty dispute over the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime spaces, and advising and developing historical and legal studies and research.

At present, there is also a Coordination of the Council, in charge of the Minister José Luis Fernández Valoni.

The Council was initially formed by ambassadors Susana Ruiz Cerutti, Enrique Candioti and Julio Barberis. Ambassadors Horacio Basabe, Sebastián Brugo Marco and Luis Cappagli were also members of CASUR.
