Argentina's trade in services - 2022 and first quarter of 2023

In 2022, Argentina’s services exports totalled USD 14.5 billion and services imports amounted to USD 21.4 billion, resulting in a USD 6.9 billion deficit. In the first quarter of 2023, exports reached USD 4.3 billion and imports USD 6.5 billion. As a result, the balance showed a deficit of USD 2.2 billion. The main services exported by our country are the “knowledge-based services” (KBS).

 

 

Main results

Argentina’s trade in services in 2022 amounted to USD 35.9 billion in 2022 and grew 58.8% compared to 2021. Exports added up to USD 14.5 billion and imports totalled USD 21.4 billion, which resulted in a USD 6.9 billion deficit. In the first quarter of 2023, exports reached USD 4.3 billion and imports USD 6.5 billion.  As a result, the balance showed a deficit of USD 2.2 billion.

The main services exported by our country are “knowledge-based” (SBC), whose external sales totalled USD 8.3 billion and represented 57% of the total exported services. Second and third are travel and transportation services. The main destinations for service exports in general were the United States, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, and the United Kingdom.
