New report on trade in services

Services exports recover and reach record-high values in the third quarter of 2022.

Argentina's trade in services amounted to US$ 22.5 billion in 2021. With exports of US$ 9.4 billion and imports of US$ 13.1 billion, the balance showed a deficit of US$ 3.6 billion. In the first nine months of 2022, exports hit US$ 10.3 billion and imports US$ 15.9 billion. As a result, the total exports and imports for 2021 are already exceeded (by 9.7% and 21.4%, respectively).

The main services exported by our country are the “knowledge-based services” (KBS). Its exports reached US$ 6.9 billion (73% of the total exported) during 2021 and US$ 6.0 billion (58%) in the accumulated up to the third quarter of 2022, representing record-high figures for the sector. Other relevant services are travel and transport, which so far in 2022 have shown signs of recovery from the effects of the pandemic.

In terms of destinations, its main markets are in the Americas and Europe, particularly the US, Brazil, Chile, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
