Energy has been pivotal to human development, from the steam engine to electricity. Today, with the fight against climate change at the centre of the global agenda, the energy transition seeks to diversify sources towards cleaner and more sustainable energies. Argentina, in this scenario, has made significant progress in the adoption of cleaner energies, and stands out in key decarbonisation indicators to align with developed economies in reducing its carbon footprint. The challenge now is to consolidate and expand these achievements, positioning the country as a regional leader in the energy transition, with a strong commitment to energy security and sustainable economic development.
In this context, the study analyses Argentina’s energy situation, covering its current energy matrix, its previous structure and future challenges. In addition, the country’s role in the global context, where energy transition is a predominant trend, is assessed, and both international and national projections are explored.
