Impact of the measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on the cost of Argentine exports

For several years, there has been debate on the reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions generated from transport. In particular, the aspects related to the international maritime transport are within the regulatory framework established by the International Maritime Organization. Given that the greatest amount of Argentine exports is made by ship, what is determined in this forum can have a clear impact on our international trade. This paper estimates the effects that two specific environmental policy measures, namely, i) the use of market-based mechanisms and ii) the reduction of ships’ speed might have on the cost of exporting from Argentina.
