The formulation of the green box has been essential for the successful conclusion of the Uruguay Round Trade Negotiations on Agriculture. The result obtained was moderate in terms of its quantitative impact on trade, but significant in terms of its quality, since it laid the foundations for a progressive integration of Agriculture within the general disciplines of the GATT, now with an agreement within the WTO framework.
