This report explores the global market for forest products and prefabricated wood housing. It analyses the current market situation in terms of extraction, production, consumption and global trade of the main timber products (excluding paper and cardboard, and wood furniture), and explores its future prospects.
It also studies the situation of the sector in Argentina and it identifies those markets with which our country has trade complementarity, with a view to a greater diversification of export destinations.
Consumption of timber worldwide is expected to increase over the next 30 years, driven by urbanisation, decarbonisation of economies and demand for housing, particularly in Asian and African markets, which could represent export opportunities for Argentina’s exportable supply. However, there are challenges regarding the sustainable supply of a constantly growing demand.
