The Argentine Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated on 7 December against the United Nations  Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

This attack, which left 17 Blue Helmets and 5 DRC soldiers dead in addition to many injured, is the worst attack on UN forces in recent history, as stated by Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

Argentina conveys its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, those injured and their respective governments.

Argentina has been part of several UN Peacekeeping Operations for decades and reiterates its permanent commitment to them, in the belief that their noble work towards achieving peace and stability in all the regions of the world threatened by war and violence is of great importance.

The Argentine Government once again rejects all forms of terrorism and reiterates its willingness to act in coordination with the international community to eradicate it, within the framework of international law and respect for human rights.
