The Argentine Government has continued to assess the cases of NGO members whose governments have given assurances as to their background and the organizations they represent.
As a result of such assessment, Genevieve Azam, Christophe Aguitton and Isabelle Bourboulon, members of Attac France, are already in Argentina.
In addition, the Argentine Government has authorized Belgian citizen Michel Cermak, member of the NGO CNDD/11.11.11, to participate in the Conference, after receiving the assurances of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium in support of the written commitment made by Mr. Cermak. Mr. Cermak stated that neither the NGO 11.11.11 nor himself ever intended to incite riots or engage in activities during his stay in Argentina, either inside or outside the premises of the Ministerial Conference, and that he will respect Argentine laws and public order.
As regards Norwegian citizen Petter Titland, the Norwegian Government has formally supported Mr. Titland, stating that "he has neither been involved in violent acts nor incited others to perform them." As a result of the formal intervention of the Norwegian Government, Peter Titland has been allowed to participate in the Conference.
The Argentine Government notes with satisfaction that the number of NGOs registered for this WTO Conference has doubled compared to the last five Conferences held by the organization.
