The foreign mission must notify to the National Protocol Department when a civil servant is soon to end his posting in Argentina.
Once his posting is terminated, the civil servant must return his credentials as well as his car number plates and documentation. He will then be able to export (or re-export) his personal belongings as well as his car.
Cars that are not re-exported have to be nationalized or transferred to a beneficiary with the same privilege.
2 TO RELEASE A CAR FROM THE SPECIAL REGIME
To release a car from the Tax Exemption Framework the civil servant must:
- Re-export the car: Free of payment of the applicable taxes and duties
- Nationalize the car: Registering them at Directorate of National Registry of Automotive Property (DRNPA), paying for the applicable taxes and duties.
- Transferring the car: Only to another beneficiary with the same privilege.
- Abandonment to an Insurance company: in the case of an accident, upon the payment of the taxes previously exempted.
All these options are subject to the principle of reciprocity and regulations in force
